About Izzy
Hi everyone! My name is Izzy Pulido and I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2023 with my B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Spanish. I am currently attending UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and while I will be tracking small animal medicine, I have a heart for the big guys and will likely work with them in the future to some capacity. I can't remember a time when being a veterinarian wasn't my dream career and I am so excited to be embarking on this next chapter!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature hiking and running with my rescue Aussie, Churro, as well as competing in triathlons! I enjoy testing my physical and mental toughness through endurance racing. In 2023 I competed in my first half-Ironman and absolutely loved the challenge! I also enjoy coaching and taught swim lessons throughout high school and was the head coach for Cal Poly masters swim team.
Some other hobbies include bringing abandoned animals into my household and hoping that things work out. Our latest addition is Raven, a black domestic short-hair that was hit by a car and brought in by a good samaritan. The clinic I work for generously sponsored her surgery and I then took her home for recovery. I was raised in a family of animal lovers so of course she ended up joining our gang and never went back to the clinic for adoption.
I have a passion for mentorship and am creating this website to document my journey through vet school. I pride myself on keeping things real so you will be getting the good, bad, and everything in between. This is a safe place for everyone to learn and I will be continuously posting resources to help undergraduate students who may be considering going into this profession.
Come along for the ride, I'm so glad you are here!
